Why Africa and RIU
Africa faces a range of interconnected challenges that require
urgent attention, including food insecurity, climate change,
poverty, inadequate healthcare, and lack of access to quality
education. Additionally, rapid urbanisation, youth unemployment,
and infrastructure deficits present further obstacles to achieving
sustainable development across the continent. There is an
increasing need for organisations like RIU, which can provide
expert advisory services, thought leadership, and project
implementation support to tackle these issues effectively.
As Africa continues to face challenges such as food insecurity,
poverty, and climate change, the role of organisations like RIU is
becoming increasingly vital. We bring together the expertise and
technical skills required for effective on-the-ground

Our Services
Research and Innovation
RIU works shoulder to shoulder with partners using embedded
and remote support models to execute project milestones,
resolve bottlenecks, and apply project management
methodologies (PRINCE2, aRBM, etc.) to ensure successful
delivery with public and private stakeholders.
Consultancy
RIU partners with public and private sector organisations to
provide end-to-end consultancy services. From scoping and
strategy development to advisory and service delivery, we offer
tailored solutions to address complex challenges, drive project
delivery, and ensure sustainable outcomes through expert
guidance and practical execution.
Project Implementation
RIU is a trusted project implementation and delivery partner,
bringing extensive on-the-ground experience and the ability to
navigate complex social, political, and cultural dynamics. We
know how to work closely with public and private sector
partners, using embedded and remote support models to
execute project milestones, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure the
successful delivery of objectives for funders and project
stakeholders.
Our Past Work
Climate Change and Digital Twin Cities
Co-led a €10M Horizon2020 project addressing social inequality,
health, and air pollution across 26 European countries and 7
African countries. Led a twinning partnership to develop naturebased solutions between European and African cities
Evaluation of Pregnancy Tracking App
Conducted a review of coding, backend, security, and privacy.
Facilitated collaboration between the Ministry of Health and
NCRA to scale up the PReSTrack pregnancy registration app
using a digital ID system and API-based solution.
Digital Economy
Appraised a new Digital Economy program for GIZ, focused on
SME capacity building and digital skills. Developed program
design documentation for the German Ministry of Cooperation
(BMZ)
